Last year we had the chance to work with a cute young couple who was looking for help with their master bedroom. They bought their home as newlyweds and since had added 3 active boys to their family. While they spent the past seven years raising their babies into boys, decorating their own bedroom was put on the back burner.

When they called us in to decorate a budget-friendly, Asian and coastal inspired master retreat, we jumped at the chance! We were excited to start a project that was a little different from the projects we had finished earlier in the year. The challenge was mixing her Asian heritage with his desire for a coastal retreat to create the perfect bedroom that would suit them both.

BEFORE Pics – Olive Green walls from the previous homeowner made the room feel dark and dated.

The client found a turquoise floral fabric while visiting her grandmother in Taiwan that she wanted to use and it was the jumping off point for the design. We paired it with our Embroidered Trellis and Dottie fabrics for pillows for their bed.

They had a custom built-in cabinets installed earlier in the year, and were looking for help with accessorizing the bookshelves. Because of the storage the built-ins provided, the only furnishings that were needed for the space was a new headboard, night tables, and desk chair.

The biggest impact was repainting the walls a light coastal blue green to brighten up the space. We picked Sherwin William Windowpane SW6210 and loved how it transformed the room. We also selected new window treatments, accessories, artwork, pillows, and nightstands. Our client found the headboard on Wayfair for less than $400!

We love how the whole room is brighter with lots of fun patterns and color. Our clients are thrilled with how it turned out, and even happier with the under $5000 price tag! We had a great time working with them and finding just the perfect mix of patterns and color to reflect their true personal style.

Happy Valentine’s Day, y’all!
