We are so excited to share with you our brand new studio space! For five years, we’ve been busting at the seams working out of Melissa’s home, and this Spring we finally found a great space to move into. Melissa knew she wanted a spot in downtown Matthews, North Carolina, and found a location with a lot of potential just in need of a little love!

At one point the space was a gym with a mauve carpet (insert wide-eyed emoji here), and the most recent tenant was a trucking company. As you can imagine, the outdated space would turn most away, but NOT US! We knew a little renovation would take the space to a NEW level, and who doesn’t love a good transformation?! The day we got the keys, demo began! Here is what the space looked like on day one:

The main thing that we loved about this space from the beginning was all of the natural light coming in from 6 large windows. As you can see from above, when we started it was one very large open office area – check out those windows!

That nasty carpet was the first to go!

The carpet was ripped out and the wall framing began right away. It was necessary to create a separate client meeting area and large open back office. We separated the two spaces with floor to ceiling walls that could be closed off with a sliding barn door.

The walls went up SO quickly, and it made a huge difference to see the separation of the space!

The dry wall went up and patching began immediately.

Once the walls were up, it was time to install the finishes. We wanted to create a rustic modern office design where our clients would feel at home but was also a versatile working environment.

The wood paneling on the walls in the front office was the first sign of a designers touch! This is the same wood paneling from Home Depot that we used on this project.

Our pony wall was a strategic addition to separate work spaces without limiting natural light. It also allowed for more electrical outlets and network cables for computers.

Y’all, check out how great that carpet looks with the wood paneled wall!

AHH! The LVT “hardwood” floors being installed – what a HUGE difference!!!! Luxury Vinyl Tile flooring is a great alternative for commercial office spaces where you want a wood-look floor, but require better durability than what hardwood floors offer.

Floors complete, trim is up, chandelier and track lighting installed, ready for the painters to take care of that blue/periwinkle paint color!

Oh yeah, and while the inside was getting all spruced up the New South Home sign was hung! Check out the logo on the door!

A fresh coat of white paint is what the space needed. We used Sherwin Williams Snowbound throughout the entire studio and it brightened up the space so much!

Those LVT dark “wood” floors are so pretty, especially after all the construction dust was cleaned off!

We’ve put a dent in the pile of Ikea furniture needing to be built, all of our desks are officially put together.

Friday was the official moving day! We had a full schedule of deliveries and with furniture building behind us, we have loads of organization ahead of us. However, we are SO excited with the way things are coming together! We will do a grand tour of the entire space and share all of the details and sources once we get everything moved in and settled, we just could NOT wait any longer to share the transformation with you!
