Well, we are rounding the corner and I have been madly trying to get this room finished up! Did I mention that since my last post, I’ve been up to the North Carolina mountains and down to Savannah, Georgia? Let’s just say it’s been a couple of late nights around here cramming to get this One Room Challenge together!
To keep everyone up-to-date, I’m working on a One Room Challenge for my daughter’s big girl bedroom and am almost finished! To follow along, you can read about my progress over the last month in the posts below:
I’ve been doing some DIY over here this week to finish things up and one of my favorite tools to use is spray paint for a quick, inexpensive change. I have some things around that a little new paint will make them perfect for the space! There are a lot of colors to work with from the wallpaper, so we got a bunch of different spray paints to try to figure out which pieces to paint what.
I’ve had the lamps from my room when I was growing up stored in our attic for the past few years. Two of them have already been spray painted once a pale green, so time to switch it up again and go with pink! I picked the glossier paint so they looked like ceramic lamps even though they are wood bases.
I’ve been missing the pom pom trim that I used in their nursery, so I thought adding some pale pink pom poms to my simple white lamp shades jazzed everything up a bit. Did I also mention that another DIY tool that I love to use is the glue gun??
I found these stackable crates at a local antique market here in Charlotte called The Sleepy Poet a few years ago for a client project and we ended up using another item for the space. I loved the cut-out details and just couldn’t bring myself to get rid of the set, hoping I would find a home for them. A little girl’s room is just the spot and a fresh coat of metallic champagne spray paint will make them stand out even more!
The other item that is getting a new coat of paint is the custom wood monogram that I ordered a few weeks ago from Southern Nest during one of their Flash Filler Sales. For those of you who have not heard of Southern Nest and are monogram lover, you need to check them out! I had the pleasure of meeting Courtney Ronay, their founder, a year ago and she is such a sweet person. She was the first one to develop and introduce the wooden door monogram on Pinterest a few years back and continues to sell those and other fun monogrammed products online. Her wood monograms are a must-have in a kid’s room or nursery, and I will admit that I also have one over my bed that I ordered from her years ago!
We’ve also moved in her chair and dresser, so the room is finally starting to shape up! I found her dresser from SmartStuff Furniture and it’s much nicer than what we had in there before. It comes with drawer dividers to help organize clothes as well as hidden jewelry drawers on the side. It was the first time that I had ordered anything from them and I am super impressed with the quality for the price.
We’ve only got a few more things left on the To Do list for next week which are small items. I’m anxious to see how everyone else is doing on their One Room Challenge and you can, too, HERE!
